Basic statistical methods for students majoring in economics, the physical sciences and mathematics. Topics include descriptive statistics, random variables, the normal and binomial distributions, random sampling and sampling distributions, parameter estimation, confidence intervals and significance testing. Applications in linear regression models, the analysis of variance, and categorical data analysis will be covered. The course prepares students for Mat 351, 352, 357, 358, and 359.
