The capstone experience for linguistics is a senior seminar which will provide students with an opportunity to interact with a consultant who speaks an uncommonly taught language. In small groups and based on interviews with the consultant, students will analyze and describe the language's phonology, morphology, grammar and other cognitive, psychological, pragmatic and cultural features, bringing together all of the aspects of language that students have learned about throughout their linguistics program. Multiple group projects will culminate in a public presentation on the overall analysis of the language. Prerequisites: Completion of all other linguistics core courses and senior class standing.
