This course is an analysis of the condition of women in Europe from pre-Industrial society to the present, concentrating on the contributions they have made to social and economic history. Students will be introduced to the importance of gender not only in historical development, but also as a tool of analysis as they confront social, economic, and political developments in European history. Prerequisites: advanced class standing and a previous course in the area; or a general level of competence indicated by three previous courses in the social sciences and/or humanities. Fl-3-
