The clinical practice of medical records review and documentation within a health information department. Students will assist personnel in the legal and ethical collection and dissemination of health care data including the use of registries and indexes. Prerequisite: Admission to the Health Information Technology Program or Medical Record Coding Certificate Program or by special permission of the Program Coordinator and (CPU 150 or OST 105 or CIS 100) and ((BIO 139 and HIT 100 and HIT 102 and HIT 104 and HIT 106) with a grade of C or better). Practicum: 2 credits (90 contact hours).
