Prerequisite: Qualification for Presidential Scholars Program or 3.5 GPA with approval of dean for Liberal Arts Students focus on the impact of travel literature and voyagers' chronicles on political, economic, and cultural development in the Eastern and Western worlds, from pre-Renaissance times to the present. They analyze literature of the so-called Golden Age of Travel, the late 18th century, up to the period between the two world wars and contemporary travel literature in order to discern changes brought about by the advent of tour groups, mass travel, and air transport.
