This course sets forth the business case for customer satisfac- tion that forms the basis for the successful retail automotive enterprise. The rise of consumerism is tracked from its origins with Ralph Nader and others, through the industry's recognition of the business value of satisfied customers. The enormous power of the brand image is explored, with tours of successful branded companies outside the car business. An individual or small group project will be required. [9/6/2000]
