This course focuses on the relationship between physical and mental health in children and adolescents, from a biopsychosocial approach. Developmental disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders, chronic illnesses, failure to thrive, and delayed development are among the topics covered. Assessment and treatment will be emphasized along with the mental health impact of physical, developmental, and medical disorders on the child, the family, and schooling. [5/22/2000]
