This course will examine the foundations of family systems and therapy with a focus on the broad context of a client's life (e.g., schools, work groups, religious institutions and other significant organizations). The primary goal is to promote a full understanding of the development structure, history and processes of family systems to aid in the assessment intervention, and treatment of a broad spectrum of dysfunctional behaviors. Students will acquire a knowledge of family therapy techniques. [1/2/1997]
