The management of employee labor relations in both the public and nonprofit sectors is surveyed in this course. Collective bargaining practices are examined, with emphasis on the art of successful labor negotiations and contract administration. Included are discussions of the legal framework, the dynamics and effects of unionization, current issues in employee relations and the role of the grievance procedure and other workplace dispute resolution mechanisms.
