Lawrence, Women in Love; Doris Lessing, the Grass is Singing; and John Fowles, The French Lieutenant's Woman. A Close critical study of the novels goes hand in hand with an analysis of screen adaptations, including an examination of the various possibilities and limitations of the two media.
