This course will cover the literary period in Britain from 1950 to the present also known as Post-Modernism. A variety of literary works such as fiction, poetry, drama and essays will be read from this period along with cultural criticism that will place these works into context. Some theoretical readings will be undertaken to explore the aesthetic and philosophical movement that is post-modernism. The authors will not only be those who have lived in Britain for several generations, but also new migrants from former colonies of the British Empire. [3/4/2004]
