(SOCI-221 or consent of Department Chair) The course will focus on patterns of wealth, prestige, and power in American society. The contemporary configurations of social class will be analysed in the light of historical patterns as well as future developments. The impact of social class status on the individual and social-psycholog- ical patterns of class behavior will be studied. Philosophic arguments regarding the ethics of inequality will be considered.
