From grooming behavior to prehensile tails, living nonhuman primates exhibit an intriguing array of behavioral and anatomical adaptaions. Using bones, videos, scientific literature, and zoo trips, students will explore the behavioral deversity of nonhuman primates in an ecological context. A comprehensive appreciation of our closest relatives will follow from studies of diet and foraging behavior, locomotion, social structure, male and female mating strategies, rank and dominance hierarchies, communication, intelligence, cognition, and primate survival and conservation.
