Lecture 1 hour; studio 5 hours; 3 credits. Prerequisites: ARTS 202, 231, 279 and 304. Pre- or corequisite: ARTS 304. This course is intended for art majors and art minors only. Exceptions must be approved by the instructor or the chief departmental advisor. An introduction to graphic theory, principles, and methods. This includes a study of the basic characteristics of letter forms, compositional principles, and visual communication with sign, symbol, and image.
