Lecture 1 hour; studio 5 hours; 3 credits. Prerequisite: ARTS 202. A foundation course designed as an introduction to ceramics. Students will explore functional and sculptural techniques through handbuilding and wheel-throwing, as well as basic claybody, glaze and firing theory. Students will also develop a basic understanding of the historical and cultural aspects of ceramics.
