Students will study the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software components of an IBM compatible microcomputer. Interior components covered include memory, disk drives, expansion cards, and power supplies. Other common I/O devices and peripherals such as printers and the mouse are studied. Major categories of system software, operating systems, and diagnostic utilities are covered. Prerequisite: Computer knowledge equivalent to CSC 1510.
