Critical tasks of planning and implementing database network connectivity and backup/recovery strategies. Students will implement Oracle database networking solutions that use a basic connection between a client and a server using single and multi-tier methods such as Host Naming, Local Naming and Shared Server. Various backup, failure, restore, and recovery scenarios and solutions will be presented. Students will utilize multiple strategies and the Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) tool to perform backup, restore and recovery tasks. Manual backup and recovery without RMAN will also be discussed. Prepares the student for Oracle certification exams that focus on fundamental database connectivity and backup/recovery concepts. Prerequisite: IT 272 or Consent of Instructor. Lecture: 3 credits (45 contact hours).
