Explores drafting and its processes: use and maintain equipment and supplies; determine line weights; measure and read line lengths with drafting scales; measure angles; and draw lines, circles, arcs, and irregular curves. Freehand and mechanical lettering, geometric construction, freehand sketching, and beginning orthographic projection. Characteristics of lines and planes in orthographic projection and the principles applied to show the size and shapes of projects. Dimensioning techniques for orthographic drawings. Lecture: 2 credits (30 contact hours); Laboratory: 2 credits (60 contact hours).
