Introduces various types of mortar and cement along with the use of basic masonry tools. Emphasizes different methods of spacing materials on a construction site, the 6-8-10 method, and use of the transit level, brick spacing and modular rule focusing on laying straight and plumb brick to the line, bricking gables and building columns. Covers application techniques for setting up different types of masonry materials, marking off layout lines and erecting batter boards along with techniques employed in different types of weather and climates. Laboratory: 3 credits (90 contact hours).
