This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to effectively begin basic techniques of uphill shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) for pipe. Students practice basic skills on metal plates before transitioning to 6" diameter pipe. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and American Welding Society (AWS) code specifications are followed.
