MAT 150 - Precalculus

Institution:
Delaware County Community College
Subject:
Mathematics
Description:
This course is designed to prepare students for Calculus I. It includes the study of polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions, and the complex number system. Emphasis is placed on the graphing of functions. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to: Perform the operations necessary to use polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions in the real-number system. Use the polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions in the solution of equations, inequalities and applied problems. Coordinate the geometric properties of points and lines in the Cartesian or polar planes with polynomial, rational exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions. Use fundamental identities and formulas involving the polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions. Perform algebraic operations on complex numbers. Represent complex numbers graphically. Consultation with Mathematics advisor is recommended
