This course is a survey of the world of microorganisms. Topics to be studied include microbial morphology, metabolism and genetics; culture characteristics and identification, basic immunologic concepts; theory of disease process; and applied microbiology as to food and water. This course emphasizes the importance of microorganisms in the health care environment and everyday life and is designed for students in allied health, laboratory technology fields.
