Description:

Improves pronunciation of nonnative speakers of English who want to speak American English more clearly, fluently, and comprehensibly for educational, professional, or social purposes. Instruction in principles of stress, rhythm, and intonation of North American English and on production of individual consonant and vowel sounds. An individualized improvement plan is developed for students based on diagnosis of specific problems. Progress is monitored through intensive in-class practice activities and assigned tapes. Students receive oral and written feedback on tapes throughout course.
