Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Applicants whose college GPA is below 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) are encouraged to submit a portfolio, audition, riding or writing submission; one to three letters of recommendation; a statement of purpose; a resume of achievements/awards; and a personal or telephone interview.
  • Official Transcripts:
    All transcripts/mark sheets must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • SAT Scores:
    If the number of college or university credits earned is insufficient for evaluating performance, the applicant also may be required to submit a diploma from a United States high school and SAT or ACT scores.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Applicants with less than a 3.0 GPA are encouraged to submit one to three recommendations may be submitted by a professor, teacher, counselor or community leader with whom the applicant has had immediate contact.
  • Essay:
    The statement should be no more than 500 words in length and should give an overview of the applicant’s academic and personal experience, describing preparation for and commitment to further study at SCAD.
  • Application Fee:
    US $35 if submitted online or US $70 if submitted in paper form
  • Interview:
    Personal or telephone interview is optional. May be scheduled by contacting the admission department.
  • Other Requirements:

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Only grades of at least C may be transferred for undergraduate credit.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    After an undergraduate transfer applicant is accepted for admission, official transcripts showing completed collegiate coursework are evaluated by the admission office to determine whether or not the student may be granted advanced standing.
