  • Accepts Transfers:
    We welcome transfer applications from students who will have successfully completed at least one full year of college (about 30 credits) and who expect to spend at least two consecutive years at Sarah Lawrence College.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Sarah Lawrence College does not publish a requirement for a minimum GPA.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Transcripts of all college work through the term most recently completed are required. A final high school transcript is also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    The submission of standardized test scores is optional. You may choose to submit test scores if you feel they will strengthen and enhance your other application credentials.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    wo Teacher/Faculty Evaluations. These should be completed by college faculty in academic subjects. If you wish to submit supplementary teacher recommendations, you may have additional teachers fill out the form or write on college stationery.
  • Essay:
    There are essays on both the application and the Transfer Supplemental Application.
  • Application Fee:
    The application fee is $60.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    In principle, Sarah Lawrence accepts the Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, granting a full 60 credits (two years’ credits). Transfer credit for associate degrees in non-liberal arts fields are evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
  • Other Requirements:
    The Transfer and Guest Progress Report must be completed by the student and signed by an instructor teaching your academic courses in progress.

  • Minimum Grade:
    A final grade of "C" (not "C-") or higher must have been earned.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A transfer applicant must have a minimum number of 30 credits. Maximum credits accepted vary by program. See the Transfer Policy Document for more information.
