Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    These minimum requirements do not guarantee admission: 12 - 23 college credits with a min GPA of 2.5 or, up to 23 college credits with a min GPA of 2.0 & meets min freshman applicant requirements or 24 or more college credits with a min GPA of 2.0
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts for each college attended is required. An official high school transcript is required if you have taken less than twenty credits, have a GPA of less than 2.5 and/or have been out of high school for three years.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT scores are required if you have taken less than twenty credits, have a GPA of less than 2.5 and/or have been out of high school for three years or less.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required of some for admission consideration and will be notified if needed.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $40 fee to apply.
  • Interview:
    An interview is required of some for admission consideration and will be notified if needed.
  • Other Requirements:
    A resume or work history is required if no courses have been taken within the last three years. Permanent residents must submit a copy of the front and back of their resident alien card

Transfer Credit Policy

    In general, C- is the minimum grade required to transfer a course.

    You must successfully complete at least 30 credit hours at Salem State in order to receive your bachelor's degree from us.
