    Transfer scholarship are available and range from $5,000 - $20,000 on an annual basis. All files are automatically reviewed for scholarship consideration at the time the Admission Committee reviews credentials to determine admissibility.

Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    Transfer applications are accepted for entry in both the fall and spring semesters. The application deadline for the fall semester is April 15; November 15 for spring admission.
  • Transfer Applications Received:
    Approximately 130 students complete a transfer application each year.
  • Transfer Applications Accepted:
    The Admission Committee reviews applications on an individual basis, paying particular attention to the unique qualifications each student brings to the Saint Mary's community.
  • Percentage Accepted:
    Typically, 50 - 60% of applicants are offered admission. It is our policy to admit all qualified students who meet established admission qualifications.
  • Transfer Applicants Enrolled:
    45-55 transfers typically enroll on an annual basis.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Applicants are generally expected to have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) while attending full-time or two consecutive semesters of transferable, full-time work with a 2.7 GPA to be considered for transfer admission.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts are required for all institutions in which the student was previously enrolled.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT or ACT results are required from applicants who have completed fewer than the equivalent of 24 semester hours.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    One letter of recommendation for a college professor or academic advisor is required.
  • Essay:
    A personal statement, sample of writing, or an essay is required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is no application fee associated with the transfer application for Saint Mary's College.
  • Interview:
    Recommended but not required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer students will receive academic credit for all courses taken at an accredited institution in which they have earned grades of "C" or better and which are comparable in content to courses offered at Saint Mary's.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 68 credits from accredited colleges and universities will be accepted in transfer credit.
