  • Accepts Transfers:
    Old Westbury welcomes qualified candidates from two- and four-year colleges and universities.
  • Transfer Agreements:
    The college has also developed detailed articulation agreements with regional two-year colleges, designed to encourage and facilitate transfers into upper division academic programs.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    To apply as a transfer student you will need a grade point average of at least 2.0. Academic programs such as those with the School of Business and Teacher Education Department require a higher GPA*.
  • Official Transcripts:
    In addition to official college transcripts, an official high school transcript must be forwarded to the College for admission consideration.
  • SAT Scores:
    A copy of the candidate’s SAT/ACT scores must be forwarded to the College for admission consideration.
  • Essay:
    Two essay questions are required and can be found on the Supplemental Application.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    Students will receive credit for courses taken as part of an AA or AS degree. Acceptance of any credit does not imply that major or College requirements have been satisfied.
  • Other Requirements:
    Applicants with over 24 credits that have not earned an Associate degree must also submit proof of high school graduation (final high school transcript with actual date of graduation or a copy of a high school diploma).

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer credit will not be awarded for courses in which a grade of D+ or below was earned, except if the courses are part of an AA, AS or AAS degree.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 72 transfer credits will be awarded. You must take a minimum of 24 credit hours in courses in the major at the 3000, 4000 or 5000-level. Specific majors may require more than the minimum 24 credits.
