Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Students with 3 semesters or more of course work or a total of 45 credit hours: a min GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) is required. Students with 2 semesters or less of course work or a total of 30 credit hours or less: a min GPA of at least 3.0 is required.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts must be sent from all post-secondary institutions attended, as well as official high school transcripts.
  • SAT Scores:
    You are not required to submit official standardized test scores.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    The SUNY Cortland Supplemental Application, and letters of recommendation are optional for transfer students.
  • Essay:
    The submission of an essay is not required; however, it is recommended for transfer admission consideration.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $50 non-refundable application fee.
  • Other Requirements:
    Those with prior military service, must also provide a copy of their discharge papers.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The minimum grade required for transfer credit is C-.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    We accept 64 hrs of credit from 2-years. From 4-years, we accept additional credits (79 in arts and sciences, 83 in cert programs). A min of 45 hours as well as 1/2 the major/minor/concentration must be completed in residency for a bachelor’s degree.
