Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    There is a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Entry at junior level requires higher GPA for some programs.
  • Official Transcripts:
    The submission of official transcripts from high school and previously attended colleges is required.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you’ve completed fewer than 24 credit hours at the time you apply, your high school transcript, SAT and/or ACT test scores, and previous college academic record are reviewed.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required for transfer admission consideration.
  • Application Fee:
    A $50 non-refundable fee is required.
  • Interview:
    A personal interview is not required.
  • Other Requirements:
    Some majors have special entrance requirements. applicants to the fine arts (painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture) and art education programs must submit a portfolio.

    The minimum grade requirement for transfer credit is D-.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    We have no maximum on the number of credits or courses that may be transferred from a two year/four year institution. You must complete 30 credits at SUNY Buffalo to earn a bachelor's degree.
