    SUNY Geneseo's Office of Financial Aid works closely with students and their families to explore the many different resources available for financing an education, including federal and state grants, scholarships, student loans, and student employment.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    There is a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for transfer admission consideration.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Submit official transcripts from all colleges previously attended and a course listing from your current college. You must submit a high school transcript used as an evaluative tool if you have completed 24 or fewer college credit hours.
  • SAT Scores:
    You may be required to submit official standardized test scores.
  • Essay:
    Submit a short essay explaining why you would like to transfer to Geneseo; what you hope to achieve; and what you will bring to our campus community.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $50 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Interview:
    A personal interview is not required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The minimum grade requirement for transfer credit is D.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    We accept up to 60 credits from 2-year colleges and up to 90 from 4-year schools. No matter how many credits you have, you must take at least 30 credits at Geneseo and meet all of the requirements for the bachelor's degree.
