Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    GPA requirements vary by program.
  • Official Transcripts:
    High school and college transcripts, from every institution attended, are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT/ACT scores are not required if: you graduated from high school two or more years prior to the date you intend to begin classes at Rutgers, or you have finished secondary school and have subsequently completed 12+ college credits.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Not required for admissions consideration.
  • Essay:
    The personal essay is required for all students. Personal essays MUST be included in the space provided on the online application. They cannot be sent separately.
  • Application Fee:
    A $65 nonrefundable fee must be submitted with the application.
  • Interview:
    A portfolio, audition, or interview demonstrating your artistic talent is required for all applicants to Mason Gross School of the Arts only.
  • Other Requirements:
    Information about your activities, employment, community service, family obligations, and other personal experiences, though not required, can enhance your application. Additional admission requirements vary by program.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    In general, credit is granted for courses taken at accredited institutions if they are the equivalent of courses offered by Rutgers and a grade of at least a C has been earned.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Minimum credits - 12 credits. Maximum credits from a two-year institution - 60 credits. Each college has specific requirements for minimum credits you must earn at Rutgers to receive a bachelor's degree.
