Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
Our admissions decisions are based upon a comprehensive review of each completed application. The number of students we can admit is determined by the number of spaces available at each school and the quality of the applicant pool. These factors change from year to year and vary from school to school within the university. Preference is given to students whose applications, fees or fee waivers, and all required transcripts, test scores, and required credentials are submitted by the application due date. We place primary emphasis on each applicant's academic promise as demonstrated by: strength of academic program, grade trends, cumulative GPA, number of credits completed, and English Proficiency Examination results (if applicable).
  • Official Transcripts:
High school (if transferring with less than 24 college credits completed) and college transcript(s) are required.
  • SAT Scores:
You are not required to submit SAT/ACT scores if you graduated from high school 2 or more years prior to beginning at Rutgers or if you have finished high school and have subsequently completed 12+ college credits with final grades available.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
Letters of recommendation are not used for admissions consideration. Our application provides multiple opportunities for applicants to describe their accomplishments, activities, community service, and personal experiences.
  • Essay:
An essay is recommended but not required for transfer applicants. The essay can be an important factor in admissions decisions. Your essay must be composed and submitted in the essay box provided on the online application.
  • Application Fee:
The application fee is $70. We must receive the fee before we will review your submitted application. The application fee can be paid online or by mail.
  • Interview:
Personal interviews are not generally part of the Rutgers admissions process, unless requested by the admissions office.
  • Other Requirements:
Information about your activities, employment, community service, family obligations, and other personal experiences, though not required, can enhance your application. Applicants for the School of Pharmacy are required to submit PCAT scores.
