Rhode Island College is a regional comprehensive public college that serves approximately 6,400 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students through its five schools. The college is located on a beautiful 180-acre suburban campus in the vibrant city of Providence, and has satellite locations at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center in Providence’s Innovation District and the Rhode Island College Workforce Development Hub in Central Falls, RI.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Federal Student Aid [FSA] is education funding from the federal government (Department of Education). Most of the financial aid available at Rhode Island College is based on financial need. RIC Transfer Scholar Awards range from $2,500 to $5,000 and are based on academic achievement as well as financial need. To be considered, an entering transfer student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25.

  • Accepts Transfers:
    Rhode Island College welcomes students who wish to transfer from two-year and four-year, regionally accredited colleges and universities. Transfer students must have a minimum of 24 earned college credits in a diversified program of study.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Transfer applicants must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 with 24 or more earned college credits. The majority of students accepted as transfers have a 2.5 or higher GPA with 24 to 29 earned college credits.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Students interested in transferring to RIC should submit official transcripts from ALL college(s) attended, whether or not you expect or desire credit for such work.
  • Application Fee:
    $50 non-refundable.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer credit from a regionally accredited college or university is normally granted for those courses in which you have earned a grade of C or higher, if the coursework is comparable to that which is taught at Rhode Island College.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students may transfer up to 75 credits. Transferred courses are not included in the calculation of your RIC GPA. You must complete 45 credits at RIC to earn your bachelor's degree.
