Pellissippi State is a vital institution accustomed to transformation and growth. Since its founding in 1974 as State Technical Institute at Knoxville, the College has expanded the teaching of technology, the use of technology in instruction, and the transfer of technology to local business and industry in support of regional economic development. The College continues to support and develop career/technical associate’s degrees and institutional certificates, university parallel associate’s degree programs, and continuing education opportunities for the citizens of Knox, Blount, and surrounding counties.

    Financial aid personnel are available to furnish information on grants, scholarships, work programs, loans and deadline dates; to assist students with the application process; and to work with students to resolve financial problems that may hinder the achievement of their academic goals.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    The applicant's grade-point average on transferable courses must be at least equal to that which Pellissippi State requires for the readmission of its own students. Applicants who do not meet the College's standards will be admitted on scholastic probation.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official high school transcripts (must include graduation with regular high school diploma) are required, as well as official college transcripts from each institution attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    New students must submit valid ACT/SAT scores. If students do not have ACT/SAT scores, students will take a COMPASS test.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $20 non-refundable application fee.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Provided a grade of C or better was made in each course, transfer credit is awarded for individual courses that parallel Pellissippi State requirements for course content, level of instruction and preparation of faculty teaching courses.
