Paris Junior College — located in Paris, Texas, about 100 miles northeast of Dallas — has been a part of the Lamar County community since 1924 and is the oldest continuously operated community college in Texas. Paris Junior College offers Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science degrees, as well as Certificates of Proficiency in technical/vocational fields. The college has expanded its academic curriculum through the years to encourage associate degree and university transfer candidates. Since establishing its first vocational program — jewelry and watchmaking in 1942 — the college has been aggressive in adding technical/vocational programs that will benefit students entering the workforce.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    If the transfer student’s accumulated grade point average over all previous work attempted is 2.0 or better (on a 4.0 basis), academic status upon entering Paris Junior College will be one of good standing. If the accumulated grade point average is lower than 2.0 academic status upon entering Paris Junior College will be one of probation.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Students seeking transfer to PJC must complete all admissions documents and submit transcripts which indicate all post-secondary credits previously earned.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credit for courses in which a passing grade (D or better) has been earned may be transferred to Paris Junior College.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A student seeking to transfer to Paris Junior College must complete at least 25% of coursework at Paris Junior College before he/she can graduate from this institution.
