Since its founding in 1909, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) has become a leader in innovative educational programs that connect students to a global perspective in the visual arts and design. In addition to its nine Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, PNCA offers graduate education with an MFA in Applied Craft and Design developed in collaboration with the Oregon College of Art and Craft, an MFA in Collaborative Design, an MFA in Visual Studies and a Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Transfer applicants must have at least a 2.0 grade point average from the last time they attended school on a full time basis in order to have their application reviewed. Those applicants with less than a 2.0 grade point average may have their admission reviewed if other submitted application materials merit further consideration.
  • Official Transcripts:
    An official copy of your high school transcript or GED scores is required. Official copies of transcripts of any and all colleges attended are also required.
  • Essay:
    Please provide a one-page response to two of the three prompts. Essays can be mailed to the admissions office or emailed to admissions@pnca.edu.
  • Application Fee:
    There is no fee to apply.
  • Interview:
    An important part of the application process is the admissions essays. View the essays like an interview, it will be a time for you to distinguish yourself from other applicants.
  • Other Requirements:
    Your portfolio is an important part of your application. It will be evaluated on artistic and conceptual content, design and composition, technical skill, and creative potential. Submit 12–20 examples of your best and most recent work.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Only credits earned with a letter grade of “C” or better will be considered for transfer.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 72 semester credits will be transferred. All students receiving the BFA degree must complete a minimum of 48 semester credit hours at PNCA.
