Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    There is an "open door" admissions policy which means that most programs are open to anyone with a high school diploma from an accredited and registered high school.
  • Official Transcripts:
    High school and college transcripts, from every institution attended, are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Not required for general admissions consideration.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Not required for general admissions consideration. Applicants to the Honors Program must provide two letters of recommendation from faculty, counselors, administrators or mentors.
  • Essay:
    Not required for general admissions consideration.
  • Application Fee:
    $30 nonrefundable fee ($20 for readmitted students).
  • Interview:
    Not required for general admissions consideration.
  • Other Requirements:
    There are special requirements and deadlines for the Health Professions programs and Honors Program. If you completed a mathematics and/or English course on the college level for college credit you may request a waiver of the Placement Assessment.

  • Number of Transferring:
    Public and private four-year colleges actively seek our graduates for transfer into baccalaureate programs as third-year students.
  • Transfer Agreements:
    SUNY Orange offers the SUNY Transfer Guarantee and many comprehensive articulation agreements with other universities.
  • Special Programs:
    The Advising & Counseling Center can assist students with the transfer process through the selection of courses, academic major/program, transfer colleges, and completing application materials. The Center sponsors College Transfer Days in the fall.
