Onondaga Community College is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses. An advantage of the SUNY system is that credits are easily transferable between campuses for students who want to continue their education beyond the community college level.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Some programs have minimum GPA requirements.
  • Official Transcripts:
    High school and college transcripts, from every institution attended, are required. If you have earned an associates degree or higher, the official college transcript can also serve as proof of high school completion.
  • SAT Scores:
    Not required for admissions consideration.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Not required for admissions consideration.
  • Essay:
    Not required for admissions consideration.
  • Application Fee:
    There is no application fee.
  • Interview:
    Students who have been dismissed for any reason from their previous college must be interviewed at the Admissions office prior to acceptance.
  • Other Requirements:
    All applicants must provide immunization records as part of the application process. Some programs have additional admissions requirements, including courses prerequisites and application deadlines.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Course must be passed with a C or better (C+ or better for science courses transferring into some Health Professions degree programs)
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum number of credits awarded cannot exceed one-half of the degree at OCC. You must complete at least one-half of your degree requirements at OCC.

  • Number of Transferring:
    Onondoga students have successfully transferred their credits to some of the most prestigious schools in the country, including Columbia University, RISD, USC, to name a few.
  • Transfer Agreements:
    Onondaga has 2+2 cooperative degree programs with the University at Buffalo, Niagara University and SUNY Institute of Technology. Onondaga also maintains articulation agreements with a variety of SUNY and private colleges and universities.
  • Special Programs:
    The Office of Counseling and Placement Testing provides advisors to help understand and navigate the transfer process. Their job is to help you gain admission to the college or major of your choice.
