Oakland University is a world-class academic institution located on 1,443 acres of wooded hills and meadows in Rochester, Mich. The university was established in 1957 through a generous donation from founders Alfred and Matilda Dodge Wilson. They contributed their historic estate and $2 million to Michigan State University to establish a satellite school, named Michigan State University – Oakland. Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    If you have 24 or more college credits, a GPA of at least 2.5 will be considered for admission to Oakland. OU will also consider positive trends of most recent grades. If you have fewer than 24 college credits, admission will be based on both college and high school records.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from previously attended institutions are required for admission consideration. Official high school transcripts are required if you have fewer than 24 college credits.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The Academic Records Office evaluates all course work previously completed with a grade of "2.0" or an equivalent grade at regionally accredited post-secondary institutions.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A max of 1/2 of the number of credits required for completion of a specific baccalaureate program are accepted from community colleges. No max from 4-years. You must earn 32 credits in residence at OU to receive your bachelor's degree.
