  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    No matter your financial situation, you should apply for financial aid. While most of the financial aid awarded by NYU is need-based, most NYU scholarships are awarded based on a combination of financial need and academic strength. All students are automatically considered for merit-only scholarship with the submission of their admissions application.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    Tuition and fees for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters vary for NYU students based on their major or program, the school or college they are matriculated in, their admit term and the number of credit hours taken.

Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    NYU’s evaluation will focus on your high school/secondary school performance and your midterm college/university grades. Our most competitive applicants have completed at least 32 credits/points of coursework by the time they enroll at NYU.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    Generally, we don’t award credit for life experiences, such as work, internships, and military service.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    Official secondary/high school transcript (or General Education Diploma) with graduation date, regardless of when you graduated. Official college/university transcripts from all institutions you have attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    Standardized Testing must be submitted if you have not already completed at least one year of full-time study at a college or university or 32 semester credits of part-time study at the point of application. Certain programs do not require testing.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    The Common Application Instructor Evaluation form and letter of recommendation completed by a college professor, or a direct supervisor if it has been more than a year since you were last enrolled in classes.
  • Application Fee:
    Nonrefundable $80.00 application fee.
  • Other Requirements:
    Many of our programs have additional requirements, which may include an audition, portfolio, or prerequisite courses.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credit may be awarded for college courses taken in high school that received a grade of B or better. College courses taken after high school will be considered with a grade of C or better and must have been taken within the last ten years.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Typically NYU awards up to 64 transfer credits, in some cases NYU Steinhardt may accept 72. Once enrolled, expect to take at least 64 additional credits at NYU to earn a bachelor's degree.
