  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    A limited number of scholarships are granted to incoming students who have earned a minimum of 24 credits from an accredited college or to students who have earned an associates degree. For Financial Aid complete a FAFSA as soon as possible.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Minimum GPA requirements vary by program.
  • Official Transcripts:
    High school transcripts are required if applying with less than 24 credits. College transcripts from every institution attended are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT/ACT scores are required if applying with less than 24 credits.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    All applicants are encouraged to submit letters of recommendation. Two letters of recommendation are required for the four-year nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine programs.
  • Essay:
    An essay is recommended for transfer students and required if applying for any Life Science degree.
  • Application Fee:
    $50 nonrefundable fee. This fee may be waived with an official waiver from your school's college advisor or your school counselor.
  • Interview:
    While not always required for admissions, personal interviews are strongly recommended. An interview is required for applicants to B.S./M.S. in Occupational Therapy and B.S./D.P.T. in Physical Therapy programs.
  • Other Requirements:
    Proof of 100 hours of volunteer or work experience is required for applicants to the occupational therapy and physical therapy programs. Additional requirements, including application deadlines, vary by program.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Grades of C- or better are transferable with exceptions for certain majors. Grades of D are acceptable if the grades were from an associate's/bachelor's degree completed with a cumulative 2.0 GPA, or at least 30 credits completed with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Maximum credits from a two-year institution - 70 credits. Maximum credits for students from an accredited bachelor's program is the difference between the required 30 credits in residency at NYIT and the total credits required for the NYIT degree.
