NMSU is dedicated to teaching, research and service at the undergraduate and graduate levels. NMSU is a NASA Space Grant College, a Hispanic-serving institution and is home to the only Honors College in NM. We provide learning opportunities to a diverse population of students and community members at 5 campuses, a satellite learning center in Albuquerque, cooperative extension offices located in each of NM's 33 counties, 13 research and science centers and through distance education. Bachelor and graduate degrees are available through the following colleges: Agriculture and Home Economics, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering, Extended Learning, Health and Social Services, Honors, and the Graduate School.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Students transferring from other colleges or universities may be accepted for undergraduate studies if they have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and are eligible to return to the college or university last attended.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official copies of transcripts from each institution attended (and high school if less than 30 credits) are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Submission of official ACT/SAT test scores is required if you have less than 30 transferrable credits.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    A statement of good standing from your previously attended institution is recommended.
  • Essay:
    NMSU does not require the submission of an essay or personal statement for admission consideration.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $20 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Interview:
    NMSU does not require a personal interview for admission consideration.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer students will receive full credit for course work completed with a grade of C or better, provided the classes are similar or equivalent to courses offered at NMSU.
