For over 130 years, MSU has been an important part of the higher education system in Baltimore City, the State of Maryland, and the nation. Throughout its history, MSU has served the community with distinction while meeting the educational needs of an increasingly diverse society. Its designation as Maryland's Public Urban University assures that MSU will continue to play a prominent role in Maryland's education future. MSU attracts students from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries. About 35% of all students enrolled at MSU are from outside the State of Maryland.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Financial Aid is any grant or scholarship, loan, or paid employment offered to help a student meet his/her college expenses. Such aid is usually provided by various sources such as federal and state agencies, colleges, high schools, foundations, and corporations. The amount of financial aid that a student receives is determined through federal, state and institutional guidelines. Grants include aid the student receives that need not be repaid; loans must be repaid.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Students are expected to have a cumulative average of 2.0 from all colleges attended and to be "in good standing" at the last institution attended.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Transfer applicants with 11 or less transferable credits must submit official transcripts from high school and previously attended institutions are required for consideration.
  • SAT Scores:
    Transfer applicants with 11 or less transferable credits must submit their SAT/ACT scores.
  • Application Fee:
    Non-refundable $25 application fee.
  • Other Requirements:
    All transfer students must satisfy the Writing Proficiency and Speech Proficiency examinations as well as complete all School/College graduation requirements while enrolled at the University.

    In all cases, the transfer student must earn the last 30 credit hours toward the desired degree at the University as a full-time or part-time student.
