  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Montserrat College of Art strives to help meet the financial needs of its students by extending both need-based and merit-based financial aid to all students who qualify. Nearly 100 percent of our students receive some form of financial assistance (grants, loans, and/or student employment). Sources include the federal government, state government, the college, and corporate and civic sponsors.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Not published.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Transfer students who have earned 30 or more academic credits from an accredited institution are not required to submit high school transcripts but must submit all college/university transcripts and official evidence of high school graduation.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT or ACT scores (required for GED recipients and home schooled students)
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Two letters of recommendation are required. One letter should be submitted by an academic course instructor or guidance counselor. You may ask an art teacher, private instructor, employer or professional artist to write the other.
  • Essay:
    Your artist’s statement is a chance for you to tell us more about yourself. Tell us about your decision to go to art school. What drives you to want to make the commitment to an education in the visual arts?
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $50.00 non-refundable application fee.
  • Other Requirements:
    Artists portfolio containing 12-15 samples of recent artwork (including two self-portraits, one from direct observation and one in any medium) is required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Only courses carrying a grade of C or better from other accredited colleges or universities are eligible for transfer.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 30 studio art credits and 30 liberal art credits earned may be transferred. Montserrat reserves the right to decline credit for coursework that is more than ten years old.
