  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    In order for eligibility to be determined, federal student aid applicants must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. The Mississippi State Promise Program is for full-time Mississippi resident students seeking their first bachelor's degree. Students must be an entering community college transfer student with a 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale with 48 eligible transfer hours.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    Yearly Cost of Attendance: $19,346 In-State; $34,386 Resident. This includes tuition, fees, room and board. Additional out-of-pocket expenses vary for books, supplies, personal and transportation. An average estimate for these expenses is $6,558.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A minimum GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required of transfer applicants.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts from all previously attended institutions are required. If you have earned less than 30 hours of core courses, your high school transcript is also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Transfer students who have not completed the 30 hours of core courses will need to submit official test scores.
  • Application Fee:
    $40 non-refundable - NACAC has a fee waiver for eligible transfer students
  • Other Requirements:
    A statement of good standing from your prior institution(s) is required. You must also provide proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is C. Some colleges and schools may allow credits with a grade of D at their discretion.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 62 credits may be transferred from a 2-year institution, 93 from a 4-year. You must complete 31 credits at Mississippi State to earn your bachelor's degree.
