Mississippi College, affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention, is a private, co-educational, Christian university of liberal arts and sciences serving more than 5,000 students from 40 states and 30 countries. Founded in 1826, Mississippi College is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of Mississippi and second oldest Baptist university in the nation. Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A student is considered a transfer student only after 12 semester hours or 16 quarter hours have been successfully completed (2.00 average on a 4.00 system is considered successful) at an approved institution.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Transfer students need not submit a high school transcript if 12 semester hours have been completed, but must submit transcripts from all previous colleges attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    Official ACT or SAT scores for all applicants who graduated from high school within the last five years must be mailed directly from ACT or SAT headquarters or from the graduating high school.
  • Essay:
    An essay is required with your application.
  • Interview:
    An interview may be requested.
  • Other Requirements:
    Mumps, Measles, and Rubella (MMR) Immunization Certificate. One immunization in the past ten years or two in a lifetime are required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Mississippi College considers for transfer credits earned at institutions that have regional accreditation that are comparable to courses offered at the University and in which the student has earned a grade of C or higher.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The last 33 semester hours must be taken in residence. A minimum of 12 semester hours must be taken at MC in the student's major field and 6 hours in the minor; but not more than 45 semester hours may be transferred toward a bachelor's degree.
