  • Accepts Transfers:
    Approximately one-third to one-half of all new students enter MassArt as transfers.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    Official high school and college transcripts are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    MassArt will no longer require standardized tests scores (SAT/ACT) as part of our admission requirements. If you choose to submit test scores, MassArt's SAT school code is 3516. MassArt's ACT school code is 1846.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of recommendation can be very helpful in consideration of your application. It's best to choose someone who can discuss your potential as a student, your motivation, skills, background, and character.
  • Essay:
    The application essay gives you an opportunity to express yourself in words and gives the Admissions Committee more insight into who you are as an individual.
  • Application Fee:
    $70
  • Other Requirements:
    Digital portfolio submissions are required. Transfer credit will be awarded based on the strength of the examples provided. We require a resume/list of activities including employment, service, and extracurricular activities such as school clubs.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    A letter grade of C or better must be earned in a 100-level course or higher with comparable credit hours in order to receive credit.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    We accept a maximum of 60 transfer credits, a maximum of 36 Studio Art Credits & a maximum of 24 Liberal Arts/History of Arts Credits. Students are required to spend at least two years and earn a minimum of 60 MassArt credits in order to earn a BFA.
