Since 1842, Marion Military Institute (MMI) has achieved a national reputation for preparing young men and women for successful civilian and military careers. This is accomplished by providing the best possible educational program for its students in a conservative, disciplined environment thereby developing their intellectual, physical, moral, social and leadership capabilities. Students from all over the nation attend MMI to establish a strong foundation for future study, and to take advantage of its military training programs. MMI is one of only five Military Junior Colleges in the United States, which offer unique military training programs.

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    The school and the federal government expect the student and their family to have primary responsibility for paying for the student’s education. The role of the school and the government is to bring costs within reach. Paying for school will entail some sacrifice on the part of the student and their family. MMI determines all need-based Financial Aid utilizing the information provided from the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    A uniform pre-payment of $1,850 is required of all first year cadets at matriculation. This amount is the cost of a full issue of standard uniform items.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    No specified minimum, but official official high school transcript on 4.0 scale is required.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Copies of all high school and college transcripts are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Verification of ACT or SAT scores is required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a non-refundable $30 fee to apply.
  • Other Requirements:
    Copies of your birth certificate of proof of US citizenship, social security card and immunization record are required. Also, all students are required to live on campus.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credit will be accepted for transferable courses in which the student has received a grade of "C" or higher. A transfer grade of "D" will only be acceptable when the transfer student's cumulative GPA is 2.0 or above.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum credit accepted will not negate the requirement to complete the entire sophomore year in residence at Marion Military Institute and be enrolled as a full-time student during that year.
