Maria College is a non-profit, independent, private, co-educational institution founded in 1958 by the Sisters of Mercy. Each year, Maria College serves nearly 1,000 students from across the Capital Region in its Day, Evening and Weekend College divisions and offers a variety of Associate's Degree and Certificate programs. The campus is comprised of three buildings located in the heart of the City of Albany. A student/faculty ratio of 14:1 ensures personal attention and meaningful interaction with staff.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Minimum GPA for nursing applicants is 2.30.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Arrange for an official transcript of your record (high school, college) to be sent directly to the Admissions Office at the above address.
  • SAT Scores:
    If not included on your high school transcript, submit official scores for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT-1), New SAT or American College Testing (ACT).
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    One letter of recommendation is required.
  • Essay:
    Autobiographical essay e-mailed to admissions@mariacollege.edu.
  • Application Fee:
    $35 nonrefundable fee.
  • Interview:
    An interview will be scheduled when all of the forms and the application have been received.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credit will be given if a grade of ā€œCā€ or better has been earned (at least 2.0 on a 4.0 grading scale).
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of one year of credit toward a degree may be granted. 36 credit hours must be completed at Maria to earn your degree.
